BIO

Jaime Buchanan is a multi-media painter, living and creating in the Glasshouse Mountains (Australia). A symbiotic relationship with local artists and galleries has cemented his place in the vibrant Sunshine Coast visual arts scene.

Working mainly with oil and acrylic paints, his aim is to capture the true feeling of a subject by representing light, shadow and colour with unexpected brushstrokes - while allowing his mood to direct the entire creative process. His subjects are wide and varied, but totally dependent on the head-space of the painter at the time of inspiration. His works literally launch themselves from the world around him, then translated with a twist of imagination when applied to canvas in often fast, broad brushstrokes.

As well as devoting time to his established art practice he also organises and runs community painting groups and teaches oil and acrylic painting techniques using both face-to-face and digital platforms.

His latest international exhibition begins another artistic chapter of his life.
